Here in Saint Matthew today we are celebrating Children's Day. It is good to remember the words that Jesus told us about the little ones: “Let the little children come to me and do not prevent them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like them. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.” (Mk 10, 14-15).
Children are the neediest beings because they depend on adults. They must receive everything from others because they are very small. We know that God has established the family as the appropriate space that accompanies the growth of children until they reach maturity. For that we thank God.
We can learn a lot from children because they are generous, they know how to forgive, they trust the people they love, they don't like lies, they suffer from violence and cruelty, they are sincere and they know how to be good friends, and, above all, they love God very much and try to know him more. Happy Children's Day!
