May, month dedicated to the Virgin Mary

For centuries the Church has dedicated the entire month of May to honor the Mother of God. The idea of a month dedicated specifically to Mary dates back to the Baroque time or the 17th century. The ways in which Mary is honored in May are very varied... It can be the daily recitation of the Rosary, setting up a special altar with a statue or image of Mary. In addition, it is a long tradition to crown her statue with flowers, which represent the beauty and virtues of Mary and it is also a reminder to the faithful to strive to imitate her virtues. We must give a special place to Mary, not because it is a tradition in the Church or because of the special graces that can be obtained, but because Mary is our Mother, the mother of Christ and of the Church, and because she cares for all of us, interceding even in the smallest matters. That's why she deserves not only a month in her honor, but honor her every day of our lives.
