We celebrate the Christmas novena from December 16th to 24th. These are days in which we are invited to pay more attention to preparing for the great feast of the birth of Jesus. Each country and region has different ways of celebrating these days before Christmas. Among the different activities of the first missionaries who arrived in America, the pastorelas, the holy rosary, the procession with the images of Jesus and Mary, the Christmas gifts, Christmas carols, the piñatas and the scene of the birth of Jesus stand out.
During the novena, families gather to remember the difficult moments that Mary and Joseph experienced on their pilgrimage to Bethlehem where Jesus was born. The praying of the rosary, the Christmas songs and then the celebration for having found a place to spend the night, are the central theme. Food, sweets and piñatas are shared in a family and community atmosphere. For the joy that the birth of Jesus brings us.
