The World Day of the Sick, February 11th.

Every February 11th, the World Day of the Sick is celebrated, because this same day corresponds to the feast of the Virgin of Lourdes, who has been credited with a wide variety of miracles in the healing of many people.

During this day it is known that all people show solidarity with the sick in their community, raising awareness of the care they need, praying for their health, being close to them in their physical and spiritual suffering. In this context, our community of St. Matthew joins these intentions through prayer and Anointing of the Sick, at the 7:00 pm mass on Wednesday, February 8th; and at the masses on Sunday, February 12th.

Pope Francis, in his message on the occasion of this year's World Day of the Sick, reminds us that: “Illness is part of our human condition. Yet, if illness is experienced in isolation and abandonment, unaccompanied by care and compassion, it can become inhumane. ”.
