What does the Word of God tell us this Sunday? December 17, 2023, 3rd Sunday of Advent

REJOICE ALWAYS

Saint Paul's Greeting to the Thessalonians is the best summary of the message of the Word of God this Sunday, the Sunday of joy: “Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” In the same way, the prophet Isaiah makes an invitation to joy because salvation is now approaching for the poor, the downtrodden, the captives of their fears...

While it is true that we are often under the weight of problems, worries, fears, this Sunday, the Word of God wants to remind us that we have the gift of others, we have our faith, we have Jesus as our companion in life, we have the Holy Spirit to guide us, we have a Father in heaven who cares about us. Rejoice, the Lord is near, rejoice, the Lord is here
