Have received preparation in catechism classes. To live and understand the Eucharist it is necessary to be at least 8 years old, and then to receive catechism classes for an adequate time to learn the basic contents of our faith and the meaning of the Eucharist.
To have made the first communion. After having received catechism classes, the parish community organizes a solemn Mass so that children, young people and adults receive for the first time Holy Communion, the Body and Blood of Christ, under the forms of consecrated wine and bread.
To be in God’s graces. To remain in God’s grace, and to be more worthy to receive Him, we approach the sacrament of Confession and make an examination of conscience.
If we have committed serious sins, we must go to confession before going to Mass; but if we have not committed serious sins, then it is enough for us to make a sincere examination of conscience. It is very important to receive communion knowing its meaning and its importance as spiritual food. But, above all, it is necessary to receive it with humility and faith.
