Lenten Season, Time of Conversion

Lent is a new beginning, a path that leads us to Easter, Christ's victory over death. And at this time, we receive a firm call to conversion: we are summoned to return to God with all our hearts, not to be content with a mediocre life, but to grow in friendship with the Lord.

Jesus is our faithful friend who never abandons us, because even when we sin, he patiently waits for us to return to him and, by waiting, he manifests his willingness to forgive. Christ is merciful.

Lent is a proper time to strengthen our spiritual life through fasting, prayer, and almsgiving. At the base of everything is the Word of God, which at this time we are invited to listen to and meditate more frequently.
