May the Lord have Mercy on us...

The Lord's mercy is God's willingness to sympathize with our sufferings and miseries because of our own sins.

It is the ability that He has to move from the heart before our miseries by showing solidarity with us and offering us a remedy for our ills, as well as granting us His forgiveness... He treats us with affection and tenderness, not as our faults deserve, but with pity, kindness, and consideration.

The Lord's mercy on our behalf can only be understood as the fruit of the eternal love he professes for us. We don't deserve it. He offers it to us freely and invites us to be merciful to our brothers and sisters as he himself gives us an example. "Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy" (Mt 5:7).
