The fundamental Lenten practices for Christians, focused on conversion and preparation for Easter, are sustained, according to the Gospel of St. Matthew, on the three feet of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. These actions seek spiritual growth through sacrifice, reflection, penance and charity during the 40 days since Ash Wednesday.

Prayer: Increase the time of connection with God, including reading the Bible, praying the Rosary, participating in Mass, praying and meditating on the Stations of the Cross.

Fasting: It consists of eating only one large meal a day, limiting food consumption, it is mandatory on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday (for people over 18 and under 60 years old).

Abstinence: Do not eat meat on Fridays during Lent.

Spiritual fasting: Abstaining from vices, television, gossip or gossip, etc. Almsgiving and

Charity: Concrete actions to help others, not only with money, but also by giving time, attention and support to those who need it, overcoming selfishness. Penance and conversion: Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession), abandonment of grudges and adoption of positive attitudes such as greater patience or generosity.

These are just a few examples. Each one can seek advice from his spiritual director.
