Last Wednesday we received ashes on our heads or on our foreheads, to start Lent. Forty days of preparation for the Lord's Passover. A time to prepare ourselves properly to celebrate and live the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ.
A penitential time to accentuate the need to convert and recognize what separates us from God, from others and from ourselves. A time to try to put means to change and be more like what God wants us to be.
Review our deepest desires and longings to live fully. The temptations of the desert that we hear this Sunday help us to look with truth and depth at our weak reality that is seen with the temptation of a lie. Satan is the father of lies and makes us believe that the happiness we seek can be found apart from God or by turning our backs on Him.
The three temptations of Jesus are the same three that every human being lives, each in its own way, but they are the same: Having, Pleasure and Power.
Let's learn from Jesus how to overcome those temptations or deceptions of Satan.
