F or this first Sunday of Advent, St. Matthew invites us in his Gospel to live vigilant, awake and prepared for when the Lord returns. Saint Paul, in his letter to the Romans, also exhorts us to prepare for the arrival of the "Day of the Lord" because our salvation is ever near... and, the prophet Isaiah reminds us that the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, will be the Arbiter of the nations and the Judge of all peoples... it is necessary to walk illuminated by the light of his truth.
