On September 21 we celebrate the Feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. Every year our feast is a reason to give thanks for all the blessings received for each family and each person who is part of this community. This year, in particular, we are in the midst of a restructuring of our church that opens us to new horizons, which motivates us to continue looking for the best way to serve our Lord Jesus Christ and the brothers and sisters most in need.
In Matthew's Gospel we read: "Jesus saw a man named Matthew in his position as a tax collector, and he said to him, 'Follow me.' He arose and followed him" (Matthew 9:9). Jesus' gaze and call forever changed the life of this sinner. Matthew teaches us that Jesus calls us not because we are holy, but because he loves us.
Let us pray that St. Matthew's Church will continue to move forward in its service to our community. May it maintain its spirit of welcome for all who want to celebrate their FAITH, because here, everyone is welcome to live and celebrate faith in Jesus Christ.
