IS THERE AN ABSOLUTION OF SINS (FORGIVENESS) AFTER THE “I CONFESS…” PRAYER?

The Act of Contrition, that is, asking forgiveness from God for the sins committed, at the beginning of Mass, is necessary to prepare us for full communion with God and with the brothers and sisters who participate in the assembly. That is why it is very important to arrive on time to Mass, to prepare ourselves properly for the celebration, purifying ourselves of those sins that we have committed in thought, word, deed and omission…

It should be clarified that this examination of conscience does not replace the Sacrament of Confession, but it does purify us from venial sins that we have committed, that is, sins that are not capital sins.

As we begin Mass, let us make our examination of life, examination of conscience, with humility, knowing that God is good and does not reject afflicted hearts, expressing sincere repentance for our wrongdoings. “Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to eternal life. Amen.”
