PATRONAL SAINT FESTIVALIN HONOR OF ST. MATTHEW

Our community today is celebrating the patronage of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. We gather in this Cathedral Church to give thanks to God for the blessings received through the intercession of the disciple also named Levi.

We honor with joy his generous decision to follow the Master leaving everything to dedicate himself fully and with total dedication to proclaiming the Gospel. We renew Our commitment to imitate his example of fidelity to Christ and to joyfully serve his Church in each of our brothers and sisters. Let us pray for those of us who gather in this Sacred Precinct, for our Bishops, our Priests, our administrators, ministers (servants and volunteers), catechists, maintenance staff, cantors, acolytes, lectors and all parishioners... Our entire community of San Mateo.

Let us ask him for the grace to strengthen our community life by living and showing the mercy of Jesus, who did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
