Reflection of the Word of God, March 22, 2026

The Gospel shows us a human Jesus who weeps at the tomb of his friend Lazarus, but who at the same time has the divine power to conquer death. The " deaths" that we live today – sin, hopelessness, loneliness or illness – do not have the last word.

God, through Ezekiel, tells us: "I will pour out my spirit and they will live" (Ez 37:14), which is fulfilled with the resurrection of Lazarus and the future resurrection of Jesus. This reminds us that, even in the moment of greatest "bad smell" or hopelessness in our life, God can bring light and new life. It is an invitation to trust not only in a final resurrection, but in His present power to transform our lives today. To believe means, like Lazarus, to come out of our bandages, to untie ourselves from selfishness and the bonds that prevent us from walking towards God.
