Santa Misa

The Sacrament of the Eucharist, also called “Holy Mass”, is a privileged meeting for Christians; it is a moment of encounter with God and with the community of believers.

The way we celebrate it is that of a banquet, a sacred meal that we are invited to share, obeying the command that Jesus left to his apostles before he died on the Cross. That is, while they were gathered to celebrate the Passover meal, Jesus commanded them to continue blessing the offerings of bread and wine, repeating his words of blessing and all receiving communion from the same bread and the same cup.

At this banquet there are two tables: that of the Word of God, the readings from the Bible, and the altar on which the bread and wine are offered and transfigured into the Body and Blood of Christ. Receiving this nourishment (receiving Communion) is a privilege for which one must be prepared with adequate instruction or catechesis, and with a conscience free of sin, through the examination of conscience and the Sacrament of Confession.
