The feast of the Epiphany is better known as the feast of the three wise men, than as the manifestation of Jesus to the world. This celebration is inspired by the story of the Gospel of Matthew (2:1-12), which tells us how three wise men from the East saw a star shining, announcing the birth of a great King. And faithful to their interest in knowledge, they set out on the road to meet that king in person. They did not know where he would be born or what that king would be like. And although they knew King Herod personally, they knew that it was not him. The star guided them to Bethlehem of Judah, there they found a humble family, at the bottom of a stable with a child wrapped by his mother, they adored him and offered him Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

They were not impressed by the appearances of wealth and power, but they knew that this child would forever mark the history of the world. They did not belong to the Jewish people, the chosen people, and they represent all the people who recognize Christ Jesus as the Son of God, as our Savior. And just as Jesus received gifts that day, the tradition of giving gifts to young children to fill them with joy was preserved.
