XVI SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

God was present in Abraham’s life and he was always attentive to his promises. His prayer is beautiful when he asks: “My Lord, if I have found favor in your eyes, I beg you not to pass by me without stopping…” and the Lord stops and blesses him.

Martha, Mary, and Lazarus were friends of Jesus, and Jesus used to stay at their home on his way to Jerusalem. And although the three brothers were under the same roof, the disposition of each one was different when it came to receiving Jesus. Each in their own way... Thus it can happen among us, each one receives God’s blessing as his children, but each one makes it bear fruit according to his willingness to let that blessing act in our lives; or we will also let it pass by. We can be at Mass and not let the grace of the sacrament incarnate in our everyday lives; we can listen to the reading of the Bible and not remember a single word of what it has said to us. Like Abraham and Mary, let us ask God to pass through our lives, to stop, and to bless us.
