REFLECTION OF THE WORD OF GOD, AUGUST 2nd, 2026

Jesus, upon learning of the death of John the Baptist, departs sadly to a lonely place. But the people took it upon themselves to bring him out of his isolation when they went looking for him, bringing him their afflictions and sicknesses. Jesus does not respond with complaints, saying, Why Me? But he feels compassion and does something for them. The disciples are worried, because they know that they have few resources and the need is very great, it seems impossible to do anything to satisfy the hunger. But, just as God the Father in the Old Testament gave them what they needed when the Israelites were hungry, so Jesus, in the New Testament, feeds the needy people he gathers around him.
What Jesus did with five loaves! What God can do with our cooperation that might seem insignificant to us! Let's share what we have, what we know, what we can, no matter how little. Some alms, an accompaniment to a sick person, good advice, a little of your time to give catechesis.
