The Lord is not far from His faithful

The refrain of response to the psalm sums up this Sunday’s message of God’s Word very well. He is not far away, he does not turn a deaf ear to the prayer of his children, especially the humblest. Though not unduly partial toward the weak, yet he hears the cry of the oppressed.

The parable of the two men praying in the temple invites us to reflect on the way we do our personal prayer. What things could we change and improve in the way we pray? With what attitude do we approach God?

As human beings, perhaps we are used to making distinctions between people, according to their economic, social, religious level... But for God there are no distinctions, because he does not look at the exterior, but at the heart, the deepest intentions of each person. He is always there, for those who approach him and ask him with humility.
