Exaltation of the Holy Cross

This Sunday’s readings have been chosen according to the feast of the Exaltation of the Sacred Cross. And for this we remember the meaning of God’s intervention to save his people in the desert, with that bronze serpent lifted up by Moses, to tell them that God has the authority and the power to save, He is the one who overcomes what hurt them.

Jesus was lifted up on the cross, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. The cross was an instrument of suffering, of death, of punishment for wrongdoers. But the death of Christ, who was innocent and had no need to suffer in that

way, became the greatest proof of God’s love for us. He has paid for our trespasses; He has offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice that brings us salvation.

What does the cross mean to you? How do you deal with the difficulties and sufferings of your life? Have you felt that God has left you alone?
