First Reading (Gen 15:1-6; 21:1-3): A Son, as a Sign of the Covenant

Second Reading (Heb 11,8.11-12.17-19): The Faith of Abraham, Sara and Isaac.

Gospel (Lk 2,22-40): A Light that Illuminates the Nations

The Gospel presents us with the purification of the Virgin Mary and the presentation of Jesus as first-born son. The Sagrada Familia fulfills an ancient tradition. They do not do it out of obligation, but out of their conviction to be part of a larger family, that of the people of God.

As representatives of the faith are Simeon and Anna in the people of God. Simeon was, above all, a man who knew how to listen to the Word of God. This old man knew how to discern that the prophecy was fulfilled with the couple's son from Nazareth.
