XXI SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME. Reflection of the Word of God.

sandraalvaradocsm

In the first reading, after freeing the people from slavery and taking them to the promised land, God proposes an alliance to the people. God wants us to relate to him by exercising our freedom. God proposes salvation to us and leaves us free to accept him in our lives.

Likewise, in the Gospel, Jesus is calling us to make a choice of faith, many of his disciples decide not to follow him. They had dreamed of a totally different, triumphant savior. Now is the time to make the decision to follow or abandon Him. How will we respond?

Peter helps in our decision by saying, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life". This response feeds our faith, strengthens it and, furthermore, let us observe that contrary to what many think, it is not a blind faith; it is rather a faith that is experienced and known because Peter says: "we have come to believe and are convinced."
