THE SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK, For the health of soul and body.

The seventh Sacrament of the Church is that of the Anointing of the Sick. But it is not the least important because it is the last. It is a sacrament of healing, together with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Christian community, through the minister, has this sacrament available for the seriously ill or not, or in danger of death, to ask God for the gift of physical health, but also spiritual.

“Illness and suffering have always been among the most serious problems that afflict human life. In illness, man experiences his impotence, his limits and his finitude. Every disease can make us glimpse Death” (CCC 1500). For this reason, this sacrament is especially intended to comfort those afflicted by illness, to receive strength in faith, forgiveness of sins and not to be afraid to face the reality of suffering or death.
