Joseph, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home…

When we are going to receive an important visitor or someone we appreciate very much in our home, we do everything possible to find a clean and cozy place in which they can be. The season of Advent is just that, we have been preparing our hearts, our homes, our parish community to receive our Lord Jesus Christ. Is that place ready?

Today's Gospel tells us about Joseph's fears and doubts. After they were engaged, and before they lived together – a year was the time of courtship– Joseph sees that his wife is pregnant. And he has not intervened. We can assume their suffering and frustration. How all their dreams of forming a home were falling apart. He was in love with Mary. He suffered in silence from the problem but trusted in God. No it was easy for him to accept the mission of being Jesus' adoptive father. But he was able to hear God's voice that made him accept and recognize God's plan for his family. Joseph is an example of a father and a husband, despite his fears
