The acts of the apostles summarize the life of Jesus with this phrase: "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the power of the Holy Spirit, ... he spent doing good, healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him." (Act 10:35)
Later, his disciples witnessed his unjust arrest, suffering and death on the cross. And when they thought it was all over, they witnessed the resurrection of Jesus. What would you do after experiencing such extraordinary events? Share it around the world. This good news of the resurrection is something that cannot be kept quiet, since it represents hope for all who suffer and who cannot see beyond the end marked by death.
An empty tomb, abandoned bandages and shroud were enough evidence to rule out the possibility of theft, and to remember what Jesus repeatedly told them: "On the third day, I will rise again." But to be able to reach the certainty of this promise and believe that He did, they had to go through many doubts. Even the desperate race of Peter and John towards the grave express the search for everyone who wants answers, who wants to verify for himself that the resurrection is something real.
May the resurrection of Christ not be celebrated today as an event left in the past, but as something present that brings us hope amid pessimism, and against those voices that tell us that there is nothing beyond the limit of death. Today is a day to renew our faith in the Resurrection of Christ, which is also our own resurrection.
