THE VALUE OF SILENCE DURING THE CELEBRATION OF MASS

Being silent is not easy. If we notice, we almost always try to avoid silence during the day. So, when there is no noise, we can feel uncomfortable and that is why we use headphones, watch videos, and turn on the radio or television. Perhaps that is why it is not difficult for us to take advantage of those spaces of silence during the Mass.

But silence allows us to focus on personal prayer, to identify our deep emotions and feelings, and to put ourselves in intimate communication with God. When the priest says, "Let us pray..." And then he pauses, so that in silence you can make your personal prayer or prepare to join the community petition, the same when we make the examination of conscience, or at the moment of the consecration of the wine and bread, or after communion. So, let's take advantage of those pauses during Mass or in our personal prayer, when you arrive earlier at church. It is necessary to know how to listen to what God tells us, or to identify what is happening inside us. And we can achieve that only when we know how to be silent.
