The readings of this 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time combine two interrelated themes: the salvific mission and the project of Jesus. God has a clear will to save mankind. His love is universal. This will has been manifested throughout the history of salvation. With Jesus Christ, this story comes to a head. He has come as Savior, showing us God's love and showing us His mercy.

In the Gospel of St. Luke, Jesus appears from the beginning as Our Savior (Lk. 2:11) when his birth in Bethlehem is announced to the shepherds. The Son brings to fulfilment the loving plan of God the Father for each and every one of the men and women of this world.

He is the Way and the Door that lead to salvation and Eternal Life.
