The three readings of this Sunday invite us to reflect on our relationship with material goods and riches; to think about what is truly important in this life and what is secondary; also to think about what the main cause of our worries is.

This is how the author of the book of Ecclesiastes realizes that only human possessions and efforts do not guarantee happiness, and yet it is what we strive for most in life.

Jesus reminds us that it is necessary to live in a healthy balance, nor to disregard the responsibility of earning our living with dignity, but neither to put our whole being into accumulating wealth that will end up consuming our days, years, important moments with our loved ones, health, mental and spiritual peace. “Avoid every kind of covetousness, for man’s life does not depend on the abundance of the goods he possesses.”
