Who is responsible for preaching the Gospel of Jesus?

Today’s Gospel helps us understand that Jesus’ followers were many. The closest were the group of the twelve apostles. Then there were women disciples who also followed him during his public life. Then there is a great number of disciples, from among whom he sends these 72, whom Luke mentions in chapter 10. And then there would be other disciples who believed in him... until reaching those who approached out of curiosity to know his teaching or to see a miracle.

Despite this large number of disciples, Jesus recognizes that those who do not yet know his Good News are still many, and so he urges the disciples to go everywhere proclaiming a message of hope, peace, joy, salvation. They don’t need a lot of materials, money, or complex structures to preach the gospel. But it is necessary to have a generous, convinced heart that shares the faith with the example of life and draws close to the most urgent needs of the people. Remember, you too are disciple of Jesus, you too are part of this mission to bring the Good News of Christ to all those youmeet on your path.
