A Model Community of Faith
The Christian community described in John's gospel is very different from the one described in the book of Acts of the apostles. In the first there are doubts, there is fear and uncertainty of what is going to happen now that Jesus is no longer in their midst. In the community described in the Acts of the Apostles, it is a fervent community, which tries to live according to the teachings of Jesus, in prayer to seek what is necessary so that none of them is in need, because they see themselves as a family.
These two models of community show us that the Christian faith requires belief and trust, but it also requires commitment to live in the day to day what Jesus teaches his own. It is continuous learning, where sometimes we can live with fervor and in other circumstances with fear and doubts. May each one of us try to make our communities grow in faith, but also in mutual help. May we face together the challenges, problems, fears and dilemmas that each moment of our personal and community life presents to us. Without forgetting that our faith is centered on the risen Jesus.
