Why are the offerings of the Eucharist Bread and Wine?

Bread and wine were staple foods in the Holy Land, and they were the ones Jesus used in the celebration of the last Passover supper with his disciples. The other essential element of the supper was the sacrificial lamb, as commanded by the law of Moses (Ex 12:1-9), but from that last supper, the lamb par excellence is Jesus himself, who gives his life and sheds his blood for the forgiveness of our sins.
Bread and wine are the fruits of the earth, of the effort of those who work and offer God the best of their harvest. And with these spices, Jesus wanted to symbolize his presence, as spiritual food, so that, through the consecration and invocation of the Holy Spirit, they are truly transformed into his body and blood.
In addition, along with the offerings of wine and bread, there is also the life of the faithful, their praise, their suffering, their prayer and the fruit of their work that they share with the community in the collection.
